As part of our Intern Instagram Takeover for the @saatchiny account we have asked that our undergraduate friends do a write-up discussing their weekly themes, the stories behind the photos, and to break down the finer details involved in each photo. Take a look at the Saatchi Desk Diaries and #OOTD posts if you missed our first two installment.

This week the Interns challenged themselves to find the best “Saatchi Eats” in and around 375 Hudson. From sneaking up on Smarty to bringing their own delicacies to work, the interns certainly captured what it is like to struggle between choosing sushi or eating out at The Little Owl. Enjoy!

Saatchi Traveling Tummy:

For this week’s installment of Saatchi Eats, the interns paired with the powerhouse account, @travelingtummy (run by our very own Kaki Pope), and produced some amazing food porn. Our chief Instagram officers (a.k.a. the interns) brought out their inner foodies as they grilled us (pun totally intended… sorry, but not sorry) about our lunches.

“ON THE BARBIE”

Our interns managed to track down our CEO, Brent Smart, eating lunch at his favorite go-to restaurant, The Little Owl, located just a few short blocks away from our office.

For Brent, it’s all about meeting the folks at the places he eats. He always manages to find interesting and hilarious people wherever he goes. Just more evidence that shows how approachable of a guy Brent is!

Smarty’s order: burger and fries with a side of corn… a regular option for our fearless leader at least 2-3 times a week.

“WHO SAID LUNCHBOXES WERE OUT”

This restaurant-quality looking salad was prepared at home by our very own Adriana Mariella (@adrianamariella), Assisitant Account Executive on Generals Mills. To ensure her food stays fresh, Adriana employs her high tech, stylish, and personalized lunchbox.

Adrianna brings herself a home-cooked lunch everyday, because, as she says it:  “bringing lunch is a lot less sad if you have a monogrammed lunchbox”.

Her meal: A grilled shrimp salad topped with honey sriracha vinaigrette – Although, her ideal lunch is really a full margherita pizza that does not contribute to overall caloric intake… we love the realism

“THE YOUNG MAN AND THE SEA”

Our Trends and Innovation Intern, Kelsey Bettis (@homies_wonderland) told us that he speared the salmon on this plate himself… but to quote a fisherman I once met, “all fisherman lie. And if they tell you otherwise, then they’re lying!”

Kelsey actually caught this plate at Essen; a food court located a block away from the office with enough healthy options to tie him over until he finally fulfills his dream of eating something he speared off the coast of Aruba.

On the menu: Grilled Salmon, roasted mushrooms, string beans, calamari, and sautéed kale.

His advice: “Eat something that won’t kill you in 20 years!”

“SUSHI SATURDAY”

What better meal for a Saturday afternoon in the summer than this #blessed platter of sushi that Ryan Gifford (@ryanjacobgifford), Creative ~~, was so excited to share with our interns.

Ryan doesn’t always grab sushi for lunch, but when he does sush’ he sushis at Arbor Asian Cuisine. Located just a block away from the office, you can always count on Arbor to whip up some killer sush’.

Ideally, Ryan wishes he could eat a big ol’ slice of NY pizza every day, but in reality that’s just not an option – especially during beach season. At the end of the day, though, what’s most important to him is breaking up the day, getting out of the office, and getting some fresh air to keep those creative juices flowing.

“PLAZA DEL SAATCHI”

Saatchi’s Atrium Café is a central forum for the office– used for everything from an informal chat to a company-wide meeting. It also offers amazing lunch options from healthy sandwiches (featured) to fruit smoothies and veggie extractions (for those of us working on that beach bod).

Run by the amazing team of LaCobra and Cristina, The Atrium Café is an essential space for the cultivation of ideas.  In fact, they say that the best part of their job is watching the ideas in motion. They say that watching the creativity flow is what inspires them to stay on top of the trends, and constantly update their menu.

Featured: a turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread with lettuce, cheese, peppers, mayo, and a side of peppered chips.
